All-State Chorus

PLEASE NOTE: There is a Learning Track where your part is played, and then there is the Accompaniment Track which is what will be played at the audition. Make sure to download both.

Interested In All-State Chorus?

What: All-State Chorus is an auditioned choir for 7thand 8thgrade students across the state of Georgia. The audition process is rigorous, so it should not be taken lightly when a student is accepted. It is an extremely high honor. You will be be singing with the best singers your age from the entire state. If accepted, students learn the music on their own (with a practice CD and help from the director) and then spend a weekend rehearsing and giving a culminating performance in Athens, Georgia. This is an overnight trip, so be aware of hotel/transportation costs, as these are not paid for by the chorus program.

When: There are two rounds of auditions students must undergo. The first will be at Woodland High School in Cartersville on Saturday, November 9. The components of this audition are the following (once students turn in registration money they will receive a packet of materials to prepare and practice with, and they may come in before school for help):

  1. Sing a solo
  2. Sing a major, minor, and chromatic scale both ascending and descending
  3. Sight-read a few short measures

The second audition is like a “check-in” to make sure students have learned their music, held in January.

The event itself is February 27-29, 2020 in Athens, Georgia.

How Much: Registration to audition is $25. If a student is selected, they must be able to get to Athens for the event, and stay in the designated all-state chorus hotel. Dickerson will not be transporting students or securing hotel arrangements for students.

    1. I received an email yesterday that there was a glitch in the state system that is causing things to be delayed! This is very unusual; usually we find out over break. I will post results and notify students as soon as I know!
