Congratulations Gabriela Pellegrini and Parker Knabb for their acceptance into this year’s All-State Chorus!
Interested In All-State Chorus?
What: All-State Chorus is an auditioned choir for 7th and 8th grade students across the state of Georgia. The audition process is rigorous, so it should not be taken lightly when a student is accepted. It is an extremely high honor. If accepted, students learn the music on their own (with a practice CD and help from directors) and then spend a weekend rehearsing and giving a culminating performance in Athens, Georgia. This is an overnight trip, so be aware of potential hotel/transportation costs, as these are not paid for by the chorus program.
When: There are two rounds of auditions students must undergo. The first will be at Woodland High School in Cartersville on Saturday, November 11. The components of this audition are the following (once students turn in registration money they will receive a packet of materials to prepare and practice with, and they may come in before school for help):
- Sing a solo
- Sing a major, minor, and chromatic scale both ascending and descending
- Sight-read a few short measures
The second audition is like a “check-in” to make sure students have learned their music, held in January.
The event itself is February 15-17, 2018 in Athens, Georgia.
How Much: Registration to audition is $35. If a student is selected, they must be able to get to Athens for the event, and stay in the designated all-state chorus hotel. Dickerson will not be transporting students or securing hotel arrangements for students.
