Sixth Grade Chorus: April 20-24

Monday, April 20

Happy Monday! It’s officially the last full week of April – WOWZA. I’m missing you guys very much, and I hope you’re doing well!

FIRST we’re going to get our minds, bodies and voices ready to tackle the day! The video below is the first of a new live stream by a choral conductor in Minnesota. Find a private spot in your home where you will be able to physically and vocally warm up with him, and click PLAY!

NOW THAT YOU’RE WARMED UP,  it’s time to brush up on Give Us Hope. Your goal today is to become so strong singing your part with the practice track that next time, you would be able to sing your part with the accompaniment track (that doesn’t play your part at all!) and sing it confidently.

Just as a reminder…

Soprano: 6-1 Part One, 6-2 Part One

Alto: 6-1 Part Two, 6-2 Part Two

Tenor: no one

Bass: no one

Happy YOUTUBEsday! Did you know that a Disney Sing-Along aired on ABC a few days ago? But not just any sing-along. The Disney songs were performed by musicians and bands from across many genres of music, AND the stars recorded from their own homes! Watch all the super cool videos in the playlist below, and then click here to fill out today’s listening form.

You can watch the videos by pressing play below, OR click here to be taken to the playlist on a separate page.

On another note….I miss you guys! This Friday I would LOVE to see and hear as many of you wonderful people as possible! Share a funny story, show us your pet, demonstrate a new skill you’ve been learning (juggling, anyone?), just smile and wave, and of course, I’m happy to answer any questions about assignments. Come say heyyy!

Dickerson Chorus is inviting you to a scheduled Zoom meeting.

Today’s assignment is on Flipgrid. Click here to log in, find today’s assignment, titled Intervals Warm-Up, and watch my intro video, where I demonstrate the warm-up. Practice until you are happy with your performance, and then record it! No one will see your video but me.

RUBRIC: scale of 1-10

50% pitch & interval accuracy

25% vowels and tone (I want to see and hear a well-supported choral sound!)

25% steady tempo (you pick your tempo-just keep it consistent the whole time)

**Make a reminder in your phone for this Fri-HEYYYY’s 6th Grade Chorus Zoom at 10AM! Come say hey!**

Log in to SightReadingFactory (click here to log in) …you have 2 tasks…

  1. Have you read your feedback in SightReadingFactory for  examples you’ve already submitted? If you haven’t yet, click your Assignments and read what I’ve written about your performance of each example—I give individualized feedback to help you improve the next time, but you won’t improve if you don’t read the feedback.
  2. Complete today’s SINGING assignment in SRF – notice the time signature change!!

Did you receive an “N/A – completed incorrectly” on an example? Are you confused about how to do a certain rhythm? Do you just need a little extra guided practice so you can more confidently practice on your own? Sign up for next week’s Sight-Reading Tutoring, which is on Monday in 15-minute slots from 10:30AM-12:30PM. You’ve got nothing to lose, and much to gain 🙂 Click here to sign up.

Sixth Grade Chorus Social Zoom tomorrow at 10AM!
